Tell us about the wildlife

Nothing is ever guaranteed when it comes to wildlife and when it comes to trips like this, it's hard to tick everything off the 'must see' list. With this in mind, I decided that I'd just be happy with whatever we came across. It just so happened that we got really lucky in seeing the rare Ross seal (so rare that none of the staff or crew had ever seen one before!), orcas, humpback whales leopard, crabeater, Wendell, elephant seals and 3 different species of penguins. Couldn't have asked for more!

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

This was probably the least comfortable part of the trip, in part due to the fact that I was pregnant and had limited movement. At times the water was choppy so to avoid the waves we had to jump over them, the landing afterwards is extremely uncomfortable but to be expected. Overall, safety was observed as well as respect for the surroundings.

Tell us about the expedition team

Extremely knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. Both Adam Turner and Sara Jenner in particular stood out as being extremely articulate and interesting to listen to.

Tell us about the Hondius

I really had no expectations coming in, nor was I under any pretenses that it would be like a cruise ship. So, I was pleasantly surprised given that this was not a luxury ship, the service, professionalism and friendliness of the staff were second to none and went a really long way to make the experience such an enjoyable one.

Tell us about the Camping

Unfortunately we were unable to fulfill this part of our itinerary which was disappointing but we understood that given the circumstances it was impossible. Perhaps for future expeditions they can plan 2 potential camping opportunities instead of just the one? Location pending of course.

Tell us about the Kayaking

Super fun! a completely different perspective and experience to the standard zodiac cruise, would definitely recommend this to others!
